When you trigger the can, the resin and hardener are mixed. From that moment, a chemical reaction begins and continues regardless of whether you are spraying or not.
Once the potlife has expired, the material is no longer sprayable and the technical properties such as adhesion, gloss, and durability no longer meet the manufacturer’s specifications.
Important: The exact potlife is always shown on the can label and in the technical data sheet.
Our tip from the SprayMax Technical Team: Immediately after activation, clearly mark the date and time on the can. This way you always know how much working time remains.
Examples from the SprayMax® range:
Part No. | Product Name | Potlife |
3680069 | SprayMax® 2K High Speed Clear | 8 hrs |
3680031 | SprayMax® 2K Rapid Primer Filler (Gray) | 24 hrs |
3680032 | SprayMax® 2K Epoxy Rust Cure Primer (Beige) | 72 hrs |
Potlife can be influenced by several factors, especially temperature and humidity. Higher temperatures shorten the working time, while lower temperatures extend it.
Conclusion: Knowing and respecting the potlife helps you work efficiently, avoid material waste, and achieve the best possible finish.
